Single-Leg Balance

Balance is trainable at any age and almost nobody trains it deliberately. It is the layer that took my father.

Clip coming: single-leg stand

The session

Same movements every time. The load changes, not the list.

  • Single-leg stand, eyes open

    3 × 30s each side

Stand near a wall. Progress to eyes closed once 30s is comfortable.

  • Single-leg stand, eyes closed

3 × as long as you hold it

This is the screen test. Note your best each week.

  • Heel-to-toe walk

    2 × 20 steps

  • Single-leg RDL

    2 × 8 each side

    Balance under a little load.

Four weeks

  1. 01Week 1 — eyes open only. Build the base.
  2. 02Week 2 — introduce eyes closed for one set.
  3. 03Week 3 — eyes closed for every set.
  4. 04Week 4 — retest your balance time.

Then retest your Single-Leg Balance

Four weeks is long enough for this number to move. Take the screen before you start so you have a baseline worth comparing against.
